Albums

Toto's discography includes 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards for their work.

Before the formation of Toto the band, members performed session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs album from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics due to lacking hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group and the group held auditions for a new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering old tapes and demos to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans and the band went on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.

During the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live album titled Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour and an interview with the group.

Paich played keyboards on Steely Dan's records, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.
